Lemongrass, better known for its delicious flavour, is also widely used to relieve muscle pain when applied topically. It is also useful in killing bacteria, warding off insects, and for general aches and pains. The compounds that make up lemongrass essential oil are known to have anti-fungal, insecticidal, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Not only does lemongrass prevent the growth of some bacteria and yeast, it contains antioxidant properties. It also contains substances that are used to alleviate muscle pain, reduce fever, plus stimulate uterus and menstrual flow.

Wild Turmeric (Plai)
The balm is an attractive yellow colour, and is gentle but effective on muscles. Unlike other balms, Zingiber Cassumunar and fragrant galanga have a pleasant smell, can be used on broken skin, and effectively reduce swelling and sore muscles, and are non-toxic.

Zingiber Cassumunar, a member of the ginger family, is commonly used in Thailand and other countries to relieve aches, sprains, muscular pain, swelling, itchy skin, and rheumatic pain. When inhaled, it can relieve feelings of dizziness, vertigo headaches, car sickness, sea sickness, coughs and colds.

Thai Porcupine Flower& Fragrant Galangal
For thousands of years, Barleria lupulina Lindl, better known by the prettier name of ‘porcupine flower’ , has been used in India, Thailand, and Malaysia to cure a range of complaints such as swellings, bleeding wounds, pimples and boils, joint pains and rheumatism.
The plant has very attractive yellow flowers, with spiky buds that give it its name, and is found widely throughout India, Malaysia and Thailand. The leaves and stems are used, and research has shown that it has effective anti-inflammatory properties.
The balm has a pleasant smell, and can be directly applied to the skin.
